Paneer Bhurji is a flavorful North Indian dish made with crumbled paneer sautéed with onions, tomatoes, green chilies, and aromatic spices. Rich in protein and packed with flavor, it is commonly served with roti, paratha, naan, or bread, making it a quick and satisfying vegetarian meal.

Ingredients

  • 250 g paneer, crumbled
  • 2 tbsp oil or ghee
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 green chili, finely chopped (optional)
  • 2 medium tomatoes, finely chopped
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • ½ tsp garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp fresh coriander leaves, chopped

Instructions

  1. Heat oil or ghee in a pan and add cumin seeds. Let them crackle.
  2. Add the chopped onion and sauté until soft and lightly golden.
  3. Stir in the ginger-garlic paste and green chili. Cook for 1 minute.
  4. Add the tomatoes and cook until soft and mushy.
  5. Mix in turmeric, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt. Cook for 2 minutes.
  6. Add the crumbled paneer and mix well with the masala.
  7. Cook for 3–4 minutes, stirring gently.
  8. Sprinkle garam masala and fresh coriander leaves. Mix and remove from heat.
