Crispy, fiery, and loaded with flavour! 🔥🍗 Dragon Chicken is a popular Indo-Chinese favourite made with crunchy fried chicken strips tossed in a bold, sweet, spicy and tangy sauce. Perfect as a party appetiser or a delicious dinner served with fried rice or noodles.

Ingredients:

  • 500g boneless chicken, cut into thin strips
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying

For the Sauce:

  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp ginger, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp sweet chilli sauce
  • 1 tbsp tomato ketchup
  • 1 tsp red chilli sauce
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • ¼ cup water

For Stir-Fry:

  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 8-10 dried red chilies
  • ¼ cup roasted cashews
  • Spring onions for garnish

Method:

  1. Mix chicken with egg, flour, cornstarch, salt, and pepper until well coated.
  2. Deep fry the chicken strips until golden brown and crispy. Set aside.
  3. Heat oil in a wok and sauté garlic, ginger, and dried red chilies until fragrant.
  4. Add onions and bell peppers and stir-fry for 2 minutes.
  5. Add soy sauce, sweet chilli sauce, ketchup, chilli sauce, honey, and water. Mix well.
  6. Cook the sauce until slightly thickened.
  7. Add the crispy chicken and roasted cashews. Toss until evenly coated.
  8. Garnish with spring onions and serve hot.
